Scott Lynch at Speed -Daytona Test
Scott Lynch and Windward Racing team surprise the field at Daytona testing.
Lynch's Nascar Craftsman Truck Series Dodge was routinely the fastest race truck during the January Daytona test. On Friday Lynch clocked an impressive 50.50 as the fastest in single lap runs and on Saturday improved to a 50.469 at 178.327 mph.
Lynch said "the WRE team prepared an awesome race truck for me" during his National TV interviews after the testing. But Lynch was impressive himself as these were the first laps in a race truck with the potential for pole runs and Lynch was able to pilot it to the top of the charts. Scott was also impressive in drafting practice with top ten times as these were his first runs in drafting packs at Daytona.

Lynch and WRE were preparing for the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway in February and after their successful test look to return to challenge for the pole position and win the race.

Preparing for Daytona
Fabricators finish preparation to Daytona Race Truck
Daytona. The most prestigious race to win in the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series. WRE is putting it's best efforts forward to prepare a front running truck for Scott Lynch to race and challenge for the win.
WRE is preparing for the race with a new race truck built from the ground up. WRE started with a new chassis from Hopkins engineering built to our specifications. The chassis came into the WRE shop where our fabricators did the pre- body work then on to Tom Mount Motorsports for a new Daytona specific body. Back to WRE where the race truck is fully prepared and set up as a Daytona Specific race truck by WRE specialists, this race truck will only be raced at Daytona and Talladega Speedways.  The race truck will then be tested at Daytona International Speedway in January testing sessions and refined afterwards.A race truck for Daytona takes months of preparations.
WRE and our personnel are working hard to be in the forefront of the teams testing and racing at Daytona.

Bad Luck Robs Lynch of Potential Top-10

Martinsville, Va.- Scott Lynch successfully raced his way into the Kroger 200 this past weekend at Martinsville Speedway, putting the No. 29 Jasper Engines and Transmissions-Intertech Dodge in the 28th starting position.

Despite qualifying toward the rear of the pack, of the “go-or-go-home trucks,” Lynch was second in speed only to Nextel Cup Series Chase Contender Clint Bowyer. After spending the first several laps getting the feel for what adjustments needed to be made, pit strategy had Lynch running in the second position- a far cry from where he started.

“We were concerned about getting into the race, so we set the truck up accordingly,” says Lynch. “But just like in the Cup Series, setting up to qualify well usually leads to multiple adjustments once the race gets going.”

Although the No. 29 Dodge was up and down the board through the early stages, the right adjustments and a determined driver paid off with a gain of almost 20 positions (with many laps running faster times than the leaders).
Lap 192 rolled around showing Lynch in 13th when a wreck occurred,  leaving him with no choice but to head for an opening that closed before he could get through.

“We were really moving there at the end of the race,” explained Lynch. “But when that wreck happened, I had nowhere to go. I tried to get through the gap and just didn’t make it in time.”

“It was still a great run for Windward Racing and it shows that we’re making the changes we need to get things done on the track.”

Lynch’s next scheduled appearance in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for WRE is at Phoenix International Raceway in November.

Scott Lynch Seeks Truck Series Success at Martinsville

Martinsville, Va.- Scott Lynch heads to Martinsville Speedway this weekend seeking success in his eighth Truck Series start of 2007.

Although Lynch has put in only 161 laps at Martinsville, he has high hopes for the Kroger 200 this Saturday.

“The guys at Windward Racing have been working hard to prepare for this race,” says Lynch. “It’s only our fourth Truck race together and we had a pretty good showing in Las Vegas, so we were definitely ready to get back to the track.”

Four of Lynch’s 17 total Truck Series starts have been in Las Vegas, but he also has two short track truck races under his belt for a total of 355 laps.

“All any racer thinks about is racing,” explains Lynch. “Every time I climb into the car, I learn something new, figure out how to go faster. Having this opportunity has been awesome and having a great finish is in our sights. We’re so close.”

SPEED channel’s coverage of the Kroger 200 begins at 2:30pm ET on Saturday, October 20, 2007. The green flag is scheduled to fall at 3:00pm.

Lynch Fights For 19th In Vegas Event

Las Vegas, NV – (Sept 27th, 2007) – While the new Windward Racing Team
didn’t crack into the top-10 in the Smith’s Las Vegas 350 the mood of
the team following the race was decidedly upbeat. Why? Because in the
team’s third only outing they were able to overcome the impossible and
go on to finish 19th.

The #29 Jasper Engines Dodge fought a tight condition the entire race
day, right from the time the team unloaded for practice until the
checkers ended the event. With the help of Dodge engineering the truck
got better, but it never got to where driver, Scott Lynch could fight
his way into the top-10.

“We were just so tight the entire race, especially when we were racing
with other people,” noted Lynch after the race. “Once we got single file
and spread out a little we were able to run fine. We’ll work on it and
get it better.”

Dodge engineer, Ryan Isabelle supported what his driver noticed. “At
times the truck was great, late in the run it was at its best. At times
we were faster than the leaders,” said Isabelle. “It was almost always
tight in traffic. We made a lot of tweaks, and a lot of them helped. It
took a while for the truck to come in but the biggest problem was tight
in traffic. It’s a combination of aero and mechanical --- and it’s a
problem that we’ll address.”

Another problem that the team faced was confusion --- and lots of it.
During a lap 86 caution period NASCAR officials were telling the #29
team two different things regarding Lynch’s position concerning the
“Lucky Dog” pass. Lynch, who was clearly in position to receive the free
pass onto the lead lap, was being told by his spotter to pit with the
lead lap trucks while the crew chief told him to pit with the lapped
down cars. The stories Lynch was getting came from two differing orders
from NASCAR – or that the tower official told the spotter to pit with
the leaders while the pit official told the crew chief to pit with the
lapped cars. Crew chief, Aaron Brown, went with the call the official he
was speaking to was ordering. The decision cost Lynch his shot at being
scored on the lead lap and put him as the last truck of those running
one lap down to the leaders. The gaffe cost Lynch valuable track
position, but the team fought back to finish 19th.

“We need to play our cards a little better the next time,” noted Lynch
after the event. “With a little bit of damage on the left front we were
still able to bring our Jasper Engines Dodge home 19th.

“Everything went a lot smoother. Each race this team will get smoother
--- in the pits and in the garage everything is going smoother. We’re
gaining by leaps and bounds.”

Aaron Brown couldn’t have been more pleased with the result. “It was an
awesome evening,” announce Brown after the event. “With Jasper Engines
onboard and support from Dodge and with everybody working hard at the
shop we got our best finish of the year. I knew we could do it – I
believe in my guys and in Scott.”

The next race for the #29 Windward Racing team will be the October 20th
Martinsville event. The team is seeking both primary and associate
sponsorship for the balance of the 2007 season as well as the entire
2008 season.

Statement Regarding NASCAR Penalty on an Intake Found in Pre-Practice
Inspection.

Larry Pryor – “The intake that NASCAR found on the #29 was mistakenly
installed prior to our reporting for inspection in Las Vegas. The piece,
which was a fully legal Busch Series intake, found its way onto our
motor through simple oversight. We at no time sought a competitive
advantage and it was obvious the intake had never been run. We replaced
the intake prior to running a single lap on the track. We accept
NASCAR’s penalty and will strive to ensure there is no repeat in future
events.”

Notes of Interest:

Scott Lynch and Windward Racing are proud to welcome Sinclair’s Oil’s “Artic Fire” branded motor oils for their third ever outing. Sinclair’s “Artic Fire” joins Jasper Engines and Transmissions and Intertech as sponsors of the #29 Dodge for the Las Vegas event.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is considered the “home track” for Lynch, as well as many of his hired guns this weekend. Lynch lived in Las Vegas during the time he drove for Orleans Racing. It was during his tenure with the Michael Gaughan owned race team that Lynch scored his NASCAR West championship, in 2003.

Lynch has visited victory lane here while driving in the NASCAR West Series.

Windward Racing is seeking sponsorship partners for the remainder of 2007 and for a full season effort in 2008.

Lynch on Las Vegas:

“Vegas is just an awesome place to race. It’s Vegas, so the city speaks for itself. Since the track was repaved and they added the progressive banking there’s a lot more side-by-side racing. Unfortunately the track that I’ve won on is now completely different. But I get a chance to come back to a place where I lived for 3 ½ years and I’m really excited. We’ve got Sinclair Oil coming on board and Jasper is on board with us. So I think we should put on a pretty good show.

“We’ll have mom and dad and grandpa and cousins and uncles all coming up from Scottsdale, AZ and friends from Boise, ID are coming down. I think we have 30 or 40 people coming. It’ll be interesting and fun. It will be nice to have the family and friend support there because I race all over the United States but this is one opportunity where we’ll be close enough to home that many, many people come and enjoy it.

“The team is coming together pretty good. We’re still just a small race team trying to make it against the bigger teams and we’re doing our best. LJ Pryor and ??? are doing a magnificent job for us. We’ll just keep plugging away and hopefully we’ll keep landing these sponsors here and keep growing as fast as possible. Hopefully we’ll be able to complete full-time in the near future.

“Anytime you work with a team that’s brand new it takes time to attract sponsor opportunities and understand how involved they want the driver to be. Sometimes they want you to be more involved in working around the shop or interacting with potential sponsors and sometimes they want you to just sit back and focus on driving. It really depends. Each individual team is different. This team has a lot of potential. We just need to capitalize on it the best we can and have a good showing this weekend.”

General Manager, Larry Pryor.

“We’re pretty optimistic about our chances at Las Vegas. Scott has some experience in this race and Las Vegas Motor Speedway is Scott’s home track. He lived in Las Vegas for a number of years and has competed in races there. And some of our team members have ties to the Las Vegas area and have been involved with the track. So we’re looking forward to it.

“Scott will have a lot of friends and family there and I think that just raises his comfort level. He knows the Las Vegas area and knows the track pretty well. So I think that will help a lot.

“Our next race is going to be Martinsville. Then we’ll go to Texas and Phoenix and finish up the year at Homestead. We’re starting to build a truck for Daytona and then we’ll move on to next year.

“One thing we’re talking about right now is building the team up and getting prepared for the 2008 season. We had some meetings last weekend in Loudon, NH with the principles of the team and we had some talks with NASCAR. So we’re headed in the direction of running full-time next year.

“We’re working on some different sponsor options. Maybe what we have on board will bring up some new partners to be able to do that. The races this year are really to prepare us and give us a good chance at the points chase next year.”
